Hyderabad:
Dr. D N Ravi Kumar, the in-charge superintendent of Niloufer Hospital, has been suspended by the Telangana State Health Department, officials confirmed on Friday.
The suspension comes following a report submitted by the Director of Medical Education, which outlined concerns over unspecified issues related to a medical shop operating on the hospital premises. The department, however, has not released further details about the nature of the alleged irregularities.
In the interim, Dr. G Vijay Kumar, Professor of Pediatrics at Niloufer Hospital, has been appointed as the new in-charge superintendent, effective immediately and until further notice.
The official suspension order stated that the decision was based on the circumstances detailed in the DME’s letter, prompting administrative action by the government.
Niloufer Hospital is one of Hyderabad’s prominent government-run maternal and child health institutions. The developments have drawn attention from healthcare stakeholders amid growing calls for greater transparency in the hospital’s administrative practices.
