Navi Mumbai: A 48-year-old doctor was allegedly duped of ₹70 lakh by three individuals who misrepresented a flat for sale in the Kalamboli area of Navi Mumbai, police said on Thursday.

The accused reportedly showed the doctor a flat located in the Roadpali area of Kalamboli, claiming it was available for sale, even though the property had already been sold to someone else. The trio collected ₹70 lakh from the doctor but failed to hand over possession of the flat.

When the doctor requested a refund, the accused allegedly evaded him, prompting the doctor to file a complaint with the Kalamboli police on Tuesday.

A case has since been registered under charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. Police are investigating the matter, and further action is expected.
