Inspired by Crime Show CID, Doctor Arrested for Chilling Saharanpur Murder

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh – A debt-ridden doctor, identified as Dr. Mubarak, has been arrested for a gruesome crime where he allegedly burned a man alive to fake his own death and claim insurance money. The incident unfolded on the night of December 22 when a charred body was discovered in a burnt Maruti 800 car near the Bajopura canal.

Elaborate Plan to Escape ₹30 Lakh Debt

Dr. Mubarak, burdened with ₹30 lakh in debts, devised a plan inspired by the popular crime show CID to stage his death and allow his family to collect insurance payouts. Initially, he attempted to obtain an unclaimed body but later targeted Sonu, a local habitual drinker known to him.

The Crime

The doctor allegedly spiked Sonu’s drink with sedatives at a roadside eatery, drove him to a deserted area near the Yamuna canal, and set the car ablaze with Sonu inside. He intended to pass off the remains as his own.

Crucial Evidence Leads to Arrest

Police traced the burnt car to Dr. Mubarak using its registration number. CCTV footage showed the doctor and Sonu together on the night of the incident. Other evidence, including a petrol can, gloves, and Sonu’s necklace, further implicated the doctor.

Confession and Charges

During interrogation, Dr. Mubarak confessed to the crime, stating his motive was to clear his debts and secure financial stability for his family. Police clarified that his wife was unaware of the murder, believing he would use an unclaimed body instead.

Dr. Mubarak has been charged with murder and is currently in jail. The investigation is ongoing to uncover any further links to the crime.

Superintendent of Police (City) Abhimanyu Manglik described the case as a “meticulously planned crime” and praised the team for quickly piecing together the evidence to solve the case.
