
Mumbai: In a startling burglary, unidentified thieves broke into the residence of Dr. Rahul Kumar Ramchandra Gupta, a senior doctor and professor at KEM Hospital, and stole valuables worth ₹12 lakh.
The incident occurred on January 13 at Dr. Gupta’s residence within the hospital premises in Parel. The family was away at the time, with Dr. Gupta, his wife, and their children attending work and school.
According to the Bhoiwada police, the burglars used a sharp object to break the front door lock and gain entry. The crime was discovered around 3 p.m. when Dr. Gupta’s wife called him to return home after noticing signs of the break-in. Upon arrival, Dr. Gupta found the house ransacked.
An inventory revealed that the stolen items included cash, gold jewelry, and U.S. dollars.
The Bhoiwada police have registered a case against unidentified individuals and are analyzing CCTV footage from the vicinity to track down the culprits. Investigations are ongoing.
This burglary has raised concerns about security within hospital residential premises.
