A doctor from Benaulim has been arrested by Cuncolim Police after being accused of sexually assaulting a nurse employed at his clinic.
The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother.

How the Incident Unfolded

On the night of April 22, the doctor allegedly lured the nurse to his home under the pretext of a home visit to examine a patient. However, once she reached his residence, he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The nurse, who had been working at the clinic and diagnostic centre for several years, later disclosed the assault to her family.

Complaint and Police Action

Following the victim’s disclosure, a formal complaint was lodged on April 25, and the police promptly registered an offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A forensic team visited the scene to collect fingerprints and other evidence. Statements of the clinic staff were also recorded.
The victim underwent a medical examination at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, and the medical report is awaited.

Investigation Developments

The accused doctor was also subjected to a medical examination at the South Goa District Hospital.
Additionally, the doctor’s car has been seized as part of the investigation.

Legal Proceedings

Police Inspector Diago Gracia confirmed that the doctor has been booked for rape.
The doctor was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao and was remanded to three days’ police custody.
