Thiruvananthapuram: Kollam Kannanalloor Police have arrested Sujith Bhaskaran, a resident of Vallakkadavu, following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a woman doctor. The complainant, who was previously involved in the Vanchiyoor shooting case, accused Sujith of harassment during their professional association in Kollam.

The shooting incident, which took place on July 28 last year, involved the doctor injuring Sujith’s wife, Shini, with an air gun. According to police reports, the doctor visited Sujith’s residence under the pretext of delivering a courier and then allegedly attacked his wife.

Allegations of Harassment

In her statement, the woman doctor alleged that Sujith sexually assaulted her while they worked together in Kollam. She claimed he coerced her with false promises of marriage before abruptly leaving for the Maldives. The attack on his wife was reportedly an act of retaliation for the harassment she endured.

Legal Action and Arrest

Following the woman’s complaint, the Vanchiyoor Police registered a case against Sujith in August 2024. His arrest comes as part of the ongoing investigation into both the harassment allegations and the shooting incident.

The case has drawn significant attention due to its complex interplay of professional, personal, and legal dimensions. Investigations are continuing to unravel the full details of the events.
