Boost to Primary Healthcare in High-Priority Districts
The National Health Mission (NHM) has appointed 415 Community Health Officers (CHOs) across high-priority and aspirational districts in Madhya Pradesh, including Sidhi, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Dindori, Panna, and Chhatarpur. The move aims to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in rural and underserved regions.
Posting at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
CHOs will be primarily deployed at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, which offer 12 specialized health packages covering areas such as maternal care, child and adolescent health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, mental health, elderly care, oral health, eye care, ENT services, and emergency medical care.
Free Medicines and Diagnostic Tests
These health centres provide 17 types of pathology tests and 126 medicines free of cost. Out of 12,551 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operating across Madhya Pradesh, CHOs will be appointed in 10,189 facilities.
Appointment Process and Verification
The appointments are currently subject to record verification at the offices of the Chief Medical and Health Officers in the respective districts. Final appointment orders will be issued after successful verification. Candidates selected for the Certificate Course in Community Health had chosen their posting locations via the MP Online portal.
Statewide Healthcare Strengthening Initiatives
Officials say the CHO appointments are part of a larger effort to expand healthcare access in rural areas, alongside other initiatives such as hospital upgrades and the introduction of new services in underserved regions.
