Bengaluru : A radiology postgraduate at Vijayapura District Hospital in Karnataka was assaulted after a pregnant woman alleged he touched her inappropriately during an ultrasound scan on April 9.
According to reports, the woman informed her husband about the alleged misconduct. He, along with a friend, stormed into the hospital and physically attacked the doctor.
The doctor has denied the allegation, claiming he was simply doing his duty and followed proper medical procedure during the scan.
The incident triggered protests by hospital staff, who demanded better security arrangements and defended the necessity of physical contact during certain medical procedures. The protest disrupted medical services for a few hours.
Police have launched an investigation into both the assault and the allegation.
