Srinagar: In a move to safeguard public health and enforce medical ethics, the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) has directed all private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, and clinics across the Union Territory to ensure that their medical practitioners—whether local or from outside—are registered with the JKMC.
Directive to Address Growing Concerns
The JKMC issued this directive following reports of unregistered medical practitioners working in private healthcare establishments. The council condemned this practice, labeling it a violation of rules and professional ethics.
JKMC President emphasized, “No doctor, whether from J&K or outside, should be permitted to practice or perform any medical procedures without permanent registration or additional qualification registration as required by the JKMC.”
Online Registration Mandated
The council urged all proprietors and in-charges of private medical institutions to ensure their doctors acquire proper registration through the JKMC’s online portal, www.jkmedicalcouncil.in. This step aims to safeguard human lives and prevent breaches of professional conduct.
Strict Consequences for Non-Compliance
The JKMC warned that failure to comply with these regulations would result in disciplinary action under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations, 2002.
This directive underscores the council’s commitment to maintaining professional standards and ensuring ethical medical practices in Jammu and Kashmir.
