Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has imposed a strict ban on government doctors engaging in private practice during official working hours.

The order, issued by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary to the Government, states that any violation will be treated as serious misconduct, leading to disciplinary action.

The move follows reports that some doctors were engaging in private practice during duty hours, affecting patient care and hospital services.

To ensure strict compliance, the government has directed Principals of Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents, Chief Medical Officers, and district hospital heads to monitor attendance and investigate complaints.

The circular also mandates surprise inspections and regular reviews to ensure that doctors remain available at their designated hospitals.
