Muzaffarnagar: A surgeon, who works at a nursing home in Muzaffarnagar, was charged under sections of BNS for “assaulting or using criminal force against a woman” and the Pocso Act after a 14-year-old girl admitted to the facility for removal of gallbladder stones alleged that she was molested by him.
The police said, “A case was registered under BNS sections 75 and 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) along with Pocso Act after a complaint by the girl’s mother.”
The girl’s mother said: “Around 3-4 hours after the operation, the surgeon visited my daughter in the room and told my son, brother and myself, who were present, to leave as he needed to check her. While we were out, he, on the pretext of checking stitches post-surgery, lifted her clothes and started touching her private parts with wrong intention. He told my daughter that he was just checking and she should close her eyes, but she perhaps understood what he was up to and called us in. As soon as we entered, he left the room…” In the police complaint, it is alleged that the doctor, who was on a routine round of a ward, entered a room where the girl was resting after a surgery and molested her, the official said. The SP said a search has been launched to trace the accused.
