Bareilly : A hospital operating illegally inside the Janeta Dargah in Sambhal was sealed by police on Saturday night after the staff failed to produce valid documentation during a health department inspection. The facility, which included an OPD and dispensary, was operating without the necessary legal approvals.

Following a complaint by Dr Vishwas Agarwal, the health department’s nodal officer, a case was filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, including charges of cheating and disobeying lawful orders.

This action is part of a larger crackdown on illegal medical facilities in the region. Earlier in the week, a similar raid led to the closure of another unlicensed hospital operating within a shrine. The district authorities have already shut down around 60 illegal clinics, many run by individuals with little to no medical qualifications.

District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya emphasized that only licensed pathology labs and certified ultrasound centres are authorized to perform medical tests and procedures.
