Hyderabad – The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has issued notices to 66 corporate hospital pharmacies across the state after uncovering serious violations during inspections.

In one of the key actions taken during the special drive, DCA officials on May 3 sealed medical device stocks worth ₹70,000 at a hospital located in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally area.

The inspections revealed multiple discrepancies, including:

  • Dispensing of medicines without the presence of a registered pharmacist
  • Failure to maintain and produce sales bills of medicines
  • Selling drugs without valid prescriptions from Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs)
  • Improper or missing copies of sales and purchase records
  • Stocking expired drugs alongside saleable medicines

DCA Director General Shahnawaz Qasim urged citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious activity related to drug manufacturing or distribution, especially involving narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial zones.

Complaints can be registered through the toll-free number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on working days.

This crackdown is part of a statewide special drive targeting pharmacies and hospitals to ensure compliance with drug laws and protect public health.
