Officials Accused of Bribery and Framing
Rohtak: A Fatehabad court has ordered the registration of an FIR against the Director of Haryana Health Department, the in-charge of the Fatehabad de-addiction centre, and a clerk from Civil Hospital for allegedly framing a private doctor and his wife in a false pregnancy termination case.
The complainant, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, who runs a private hospital in Bhuna, claimed that the officials demanded bribes in 2017. After he refused, the then Chief Medical Officer allegedly filed a false case under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act against him and his wife.
Alleged Forgery to Close Complaint
Dr Kumar stated that in January 2020, he lodged a complaint at the Chief Minister’s Window regarding improper medical practices. Instead of conducting a fair probe, the accused allegedly called him in 2023, prepared a statement, and asked him to sign it. When he refused, they allegedly forged his signatures and submitted the document to close the complaint.
Later, through RTI documents, Dr Kumar discovered discrepancies. A fingerprint expert in Hisar confirmed the signatures were fake.
Case Reopened After Court’s Intervention
Initially, a complaint filed in 2023 at Bhuna police station was disposed of, with police stating the doctor had “no role.” Dissatisfied, Dr Kumar approached the court.
Following the hearing, the court directed the registration of a case against the trio under BNS sections related to forgery and cheating.
Doctor’s Statement
Speaking to HT, Dr Kumar said, “They forged my signature and submitted the same at the CM window to close the complaint. Later, I obtained the documents under RTI, and fingerprint experts confirmed the signatures were bogus.”
