Panaji: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday reiterated the state government’s commitment to making arthroscopy — a minimally invasive joint surgery procedure — both accessible and affordable for the public.

Arthroscopy: Modern Treatment for Joint Issues

Arthroscopy involves the use of a tiny camera, or arthroscope, to diagnose and treat conditions inside joints such as the knee, hip, or shoulder. The procedure allows faster recovery and less post-operative pain, making it particularly beneficial for athletes and patients aiming to return quickly to active lifestyles.

IASCON 2025 Inauguration

Rane was speaking after inaugurating IASCON 2025, the annual conference of the Indian Arthroscopy Society. He highlighted that Goa Medical College had been chosen to host live surgical demonstrations by eminent national and international experts, describing it as a matter of pride for the state.

Goa Emerging as Healthcare Hub

The minister said the selection of GMC for such events reinforces Goa’s position as a hub for advanced medical practices and knowledge exchange. “Our vision remains focused on strengthening healthcare delivery in Goa, bringing the best of global expertise and innovations to benefit every citizen,” he added.

Cancer Hospital by 2027

Rane also updated on the cancer hospital being developed at Bambolim in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He assured that the facility would be ready before 2027 and serve as a landmark in the state’s healthcare sector, with the government committed to bringing modern health facilities to people’s doorsteps.
