Ahmedabad: During a special hearing called by the Gujarat Medical Council(GMC), the GMC concluded that four doctors were guilty of malpractice and negligence was suspended. Out of the four doctors three doctors were suspended for a period of three months while the fourth doctor has been suspended until he appears before the council for the hearing.
As per the GMC officials they had received complaint from an insurance company in which the gynecologist has forged signature of another doctor to claim insurance money. The allegation was found true and the gynecologist was suspended for a period of one month. The second case relates to an orthopedic doctor wherein the doctor had left a piece of gauge in the patients leg after surgery. The patient submitted video as evidence which was examined for genuines by a forensic expert. The video was found to be genuine and the orthopedic doctor was suspended for one month. The GMC had also received a complaint of misdemeanor against an orthopedic surgeon with Veraval Civil Hospital. The orthopedic surgeon did not appear before the GMC though he was summoned four times and hence the GMC passed the order to cancel the license till he appears before the GMC.
