Hospital Claims Patient Received Best Possible Care Despite Complex Condition

New Delhi, March 17 (ANI): Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh has denied allegations of medical negligence following the death of Manasvi Gupta, a patient who was admitted with a severe fever and seizures. The hospital stated that Gupta was likely battling a complex neurological condition and that despite intensive care, her health deteriorated.

Hospital’s Statement on the Case

In an official statement issued on March 16, the hospital clarified that Ms. Gupta was admitted on March 10 and received continuous monitoring from a multidisciplinary team, equipped with advanced respiratory and antimicrobial therapies. However, despite exhaustive efforts, her condition worsened, leading to her demise.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Ms. Gupta’s family and reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical care for all our patients,” the hospital stated.

Police Complaint & Investigation Underway

Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Police received a call regarding alleged medical negligence and a dispute with hospital staff. Manasvi Gupta, a resident of Tri Nagar, had been under treatment at Fortis Hospital since March 10 before she passed away on March 16.

Following the family’s complaint, her body has been preserved at BJRM Hospital, Jahangirpuri, pending a post-mortem examination. The autopsy will be conducted after a medical board is constituted by the NCT of Delhi.

The family has also alleged that despite paying ₹18 lakh, the patient did not receive adequate treatment.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and further developments will depend on the post-mortem findings and medical reports.
