Ernakulum : Dr. Irfan Khan, the house surgeon at Ernakulum Medical College was attacked by a drunk patient. The assailant identified as Doyal had reached the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in an accident. “I was on duty as a house surgeon at that time. The patient was drunk and was rude to us and without any provocation slapped me and threatened to kill while I was treating him. Immediately after the incident, I complained to my superiors. They filed a case with police”. On receiving the information of the attack on the doctor the policemen reached the spot and arrested the accused. The police said that the accused has been booked under non-bailable sections of the amended Hospital Protection Act.
