Three new centres will provide specialised services in organ transplantation, maternal and child healthcare, reproductive medicine and advanced endoscopy under one roof
Dr D Y Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, has inaugurated three specialised healthcare centres aimed at expanding access to advanced medical services, including organ transplantation, maternal and child care, reproductive medicine and endoscopic procedures.
The newly inaugurated facilities are the Yashraj Prasad Patil Multi-Organ Transplant Centre of Excellence, Bhagyashree Aai & Gokul Mother & Child Centre, and the IVF & Endoscopy Centre.
Multi-Organ Transplant Centre to Provide Advanced Transplant Care
The Yashraj Prasad Patil Multi-Organ Transplant Centre of Excellence will cater to patients requiring complex organ transplantation and critical care.
The centre will particularly focus on patients with end-stage heart and lung disease and other serious medical conditions requiring advanced transplant services. It is equipped with specialised medical equipment, infection-control systems and dedicated air-handling systems designed to support transplant patients.
The facility will also provide medical students and postgraduate trainees with opportunities to gain exposure to transplant procedures and related technologies.
The hospital stated that it has performed more than 550 organ transplants involving the heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, cornea and liver. More than 50 heart and lung transplants have reportedly been performed over the past three years.
Mother and Child Centre to Integrate Maternal, Neonatal and Paediatric Care
The Bhagyashree Aai & Gokul Mother & Child Centre will provide specialised healthcare services for mothers, newborns and children.
The centre brings maternal, neonatal and paediatric services together and will provide care across different stages of pregnancy as well as throughout childhood.
The integrated approach is intended to provide women and children with access to specialised services within a single healthcare facility.
IVF and Endoscopy Centre to Offer Reproductive and Minimally Invasive Services
The IVF & Endoscopy Centre will provide reproductive medicine and endoscopic services, including fertility-related treatment and advanced endoscopic procedures.
The facility is intended to expand access to specialised reproductive healthcare and minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Ministers Highlight Integrated Specialised Healthcare
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetratai Ajit Pawar said the mother-and-child centre would address healthcare requirements of women and children, while the IVF and endoscopy centre would expand access to specialised medical services.
She also highlighted the importance of the transplant centre in strengthening the hospital’s capabilities in complex transplantation.
Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said bringing multiple specialised services together could reduce the need for patients to travel between hospitals for critical treatment and potentially improve access to advanced healthcare.
