KARIMNAGAR: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter, in collaboration with the District Medical and Health Office (DMHO), organized an AIDS awareness rally in Karimnagar town on Monday.

District Collector Pamela Satpathy inaugurated the rally at the DMHO office. The procession passed through prominent streets before concluding at a meeting held at Film Bhavan.

Speakers at the event emphasized that AIDS, caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), weakens the immune system. They highlighted the importance of public awareness about the disease and the need to dispel societal misconceptions. Volunteers were urged to actively contribute to spreading awareness.

Under the theme “Take the right path: My health, my right!”, the World Health Organization calls on global leaders and communities to champion health equity and address inequalities that impede progress in combating AIDS, they added.

Prominent attendees included IMA Karimnagar district president Dr. Anamalla Naresh, secretary Dr. Siripuram Naveen Kumar, DMHO Dr. Venkataramana, IMA Telangana state president-elect Dr. P. Kishan, and senior doctors Dr. D. Raghu Raman, Dr. M.L.N. Reddy, Dr. Aleem, Dr. Ramkiran, Dr. Srinivas, Dr. Sesha Shailaja, Dr. M. Vidya, Dr. Suresh, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Narender, Dr. Om Prasad, Dr. Prathista, Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Gangadhar, Dr. Ravikumar, and others.
