Guwahati: A disturbing case of sexual misconduct has emerged from the Six Mile area of Guwahati, where a doctor at a private clinic has been accused of molesting a young female patient and recording videos during medical consultations.
The accused, Dr. Subrata Dey, was taken into police custody late last night following a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim at the Dispur Police Station.
According to the complaint, the woman had been undergoing treatment for back pain at the clinic since last month. During one of her therapy sessions, she alleged that the doctor touched her inappropriately under the pretext of medical care. Matters escalated when she noticed him recording a video from behind during the session.
“While giving therapy, the doctor touched me in different parts and I felt uneasy. Today also I went for the same, but I couldn’t keep quiet as it was crossing limits and he was recording a video from my back,” the victim recounted.
Swift Police Action and Growing Public Concern
Following the complaint, police launched a prompt investigation and apprehended Dr. Dey from the clinic. Authorities are currently examining his devices for potential evidence, including any incriminating footage.
This incident has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns over patient safety and ethical conduct in private healthcare practices across Assam.
Police officials have assured a thorough probe and have urged any other potential victims to come forward. The Assam Medical Council is also expected to take cognizance of the case and initiate disciplinary proceedings, if required.
