Grieving Father and Depressed Daughter End Lives
Bhopal: An 82-year-old homoeopathy doctor, Harikishan Sharma, and his 36-year-old daughter, Chitra, were found dead at their residence in Bhopal on Sunday. A four-page suicide note, allegedly written by Sharma, requested authorities to donate their bodies for medical study at AIIMS Bhopal.
Struggles with Grief and Depression
According to police inspector Avdhesh Singh Tomar, Sharma hanged himself, though the cause of Chitra’s death remains unclear, pending post-mortem results. The note revealed that Sharma had been struggling emotionally since his wife’s death four years ago, while his daughter, also a homoeopath, had slipped into depression.
The elderly doctor also expressed concerns about his deteriorating health and his daughter’s future after his passing, making it increasingly difficult for him to care for her.
A Life of Service Ends in Tragedy
Sharma, who had lost his son years ago, had dedicated himself to treating patients, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. Both he and his daughter played a crucial role in providing medical aid during emergencies.
Their deaths came to light when a patient, visiting Sharma’s home clinic, received no response for over half an hour. Alerted by neighbors who peered inside and saw Sharma hanging, police were called to the scene.
Authorities are now investigating further while awaiting medical reports to determine the exact cause of Chitra’s death.
