Thane — Thane city police have registered a criminal case against a female doctor associated with a private hospital in Manpada in connection with the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child in February 2022.

According to police officials, the woman, a Ghodbunder resident, was admitted to the private hospital on February 9, 2022. After receiving treatment until late afternoon, her condition reportedly deteriorated, and doctors advised her relatives to shift her to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital operated by the Thane Municipal Corporation.

Tragically, the woman and her foetus died after the transfer. The victim’s husband subsequently filed a complaint with the Kasarvadavli police, alleging negligence and inadequate treatment by the private hospital staff.

Following the complaint, the Thane District Government Hospital was tasked with preparing a comprehensive medical report. Authorities reviewed the treatment protocols and examined whether standard medical procedures were followed by the private facility.

Based on the findings, a criminal case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
