New Delhi: In a significant development regarding the AIIMS server hacking case, the Delhi Police has approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to contact Interpol for details about Chinese hackers suspected to be behind the attack.

Request for IP Address Details

The Delhi Police has requested the CBI to gather information about specific IP addresses used by the hackers, which are reportedly based in Hong Kong and Henan, China. A police source revealed, “We need details about these IP addresses to ascertain if they were linked to any firm or individual.” The CBI, as India’s nodal agency for Interpol communications, will facilitate this inquiry.

Cyberattack Details

The cyberattack on AIIMS servers, first reported on November 23, 2024, targeted five out of 100 servers at the hospital. Although the data from these compromised servers has been retrieved, the attack had temporarily disrupted hospital operations.

Hospital Operations Resumed

AIIMS has partially resumed its online operations in some departments. Online OPD appointments and new and follow-up registrations have started functioning at the Rajkumari Amrita Kaur (RAK) OPD, marking progress in restoring normalcy.

Investigation Progress

The Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit is leading the investigation. While a case of extortion and cyber terrorism was registered, no ransom demand was reported by the hospital administration.

The investigation continues as authorities aim to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice, highlighting the increasing global risks posed by cyberattacks on critical infrastructure.
