New Delhi, May 1: In a major step toward digital transformation in public healthcare, the Delhi government will soon implement a comprehensive Health Management Information System (HMIS) across all government-run hospitals, Health Minister Pankaj Singh announced on Thursday.

As part of this initiative, a centralised healthcare control room will be set up, featuring a real-time dashboard to monitor key data points such as bed availability, medicine stocks, diagnostic trends, and resource utilisation across Delhi’s healthcare network.

“We are working towards a single digital health platform that offers unified access to real-time data from all health facilities—ranging from primary health centres to super-speciality hospitals,” Singh said. “This will eliminate inefficiencies, empower doctors, and offer seamless access to care for every citizen.”

Integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the HMIS will support digital tools for patient registration, appointments, billing, diagnostics, and ward management. Patients will be able to access prescriptions, lab reports, and discharge summaries via mobile apps and WhatsApp.

The system will also support consent-based sharing of health records using Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs, ensuring both data privacy and interoperability.

Additional features will include voice-to-text transcription for prescriptions, doctor performance analytics, and detailed medicine usage and diagnostic load reports, aimed at improving efficiency and accountability.

The announcement came following a review meeting chaired by Singh with officials from the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), and the Department of Health, where they discussed the roadmap for the digital rollout.

Singh also conducted an inspection at Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, stating, “It is our priority that better treatment and facilities are available to the patients. I assure Delhiites that I will work towards restoring the past glory of the hospital.”
