Date for MRB Exams for Doctor Posts Advanced to Jan. 5, 2025, Says Health Minister

New Delhi: The Medical Recruitment Board (MRB) exam for doctor positions has been rescheduled to January 5, 2025, as announced by Health Minister M. Subramanian on Friday. The exam was initially set for January 27, but the date has now been moved forward. The MRB had identified 2,553 vacancies, for which 23,971 candidates have applied.

Minister Subramanian also shared that 1,021 doctors’ posts have been filled in the last six months, though some appointments were delayed due to ongoing court litigations.

Regarding promotions within the Directorate of Medical Education, 296 individuals were promoted to associate professors. In the 2024-25 period, 110 assistant professors from 40 departments were promoted to associate professors, along with four assistant directors in the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services promoted to associate directors.

Additionally, the Health Department held a counselling session on November 14 and 15, through which 1,200 nurses under consolidated pay were absorbed into the health department. Another 940 nurses, appointed during the COVID-19 pandemic, were also placed on consolidated salary. The Minister further announced that appointment orders for 2,140 nurses would be distributed on December 2.

In total, the Health Department has appointed 37,000 healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses. Furthermore, MRB has begun the process to conduct exams to fill vacancies for health inspectors, with 1,066 applications received.

Northeast Monsoon: The Health Department also initiated medical camps across 1,000 locations on November 14 and 15, benefiting 26.08 lakh people. As of now, 14,665 individuals have been identified with fever, and 91,556 have been diagnosed with cough and cold.
