Schools in Mohali Also Receive Threats; All Turn Out to Be Hoaxes

Chandigarh: Fortis Hospital Mohali received a bomb threat email on Tuesday, prompting police to launch an immediate search and anti-sabotage operation. Officials confirmed that security agencies conducted thorough inspections across the hospital premises.

According to a PTI report, a senior police official stated that the bomb threat message, which was also sent to several schools, mentioned Fortis Hospital in Mohali. While essential medical services continued uninterrupted, non-essential services were temporarily kept on hold during the security checks.

Security Heightened Amid CM Bhagwant Mann’s Admission

Security had already been tightened at the hospital following the admission of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Chief Minister was re-admitted on Monday evening after experiencing exhaustion, just hours after being discharged earlier.

Police said extensive anti-sabotage checks were carried out within the hospital premises and surrounding areas to ensure patient safety. Authorities maintained strict vigilance throughout the operation.

Schools Evacuated After Threat Emails

On Wednesday, as many as sixteen private schools in Mohali also received bomb threat emails, triggering panic among parents and school authorities. Students and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure while police teams conducted detailed inspections.

However, after thorough searches at all identified locations, officials confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive materials were found. Authorities indicated that the threats appeared to be hoaxes.

Series of Similar Hoax Threats in Region

The latest incident comes amid a series of similar bomb threat emails reported recently in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and parts of Haryana. In each case, detailed inspections were carried out and the threats were later declared false alarms.

Earlier, a similar bomb threat was reported at Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital in Kerala, where police and bomb disposal squads conducted multiple inspections before declaring the threat a hoax. Despite repeated false alarms, authorities have continued to maintain heightened vigilance to ensure public safety.
