Patna – A major impersonation racket during the NEET-UG 2025 exam has been uncovered in Bihar, with the Samastipur police arresting two individuals, including an MBBS doctor, Dr. Ranjit Kumar. The accused allegedly placed imposters in place of real candidates in exchange for ₹8–10 lakh per candidate.
Dr. Ranjit, currently posted at Begusarai Jail (on leave since April 3), and his accomplice Ram Babu Mallik, a former Class IV employee of DMCH, were caught near an exam centre with ₹50,000 cash, three mobile phones, and admit cards of six examinees. The imposters—mostly MBBS students—were paid ₹2.5–5 lakh to sit the exam in place of academically weaker candidates.
The duo admitted to the crime and are in 14-day judicial custody. Dr. Ranjit reportedly took advance payments before the exam and the remainder post-results.
In a related case, Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit also arrested one SK Faiz from Araria for allegedly collecting money from candidates with a promise of leaked NEET question papers. Further investigations and arrests are expected.
