Constables Accused of Threats, Assault and Extortion at Kaliyasot Dam
Bhopal: In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage among the medical community, a junior doctor from Gandhi Medical College (GMC) was allegedly assaulted, threatened with a fabricated ‘Love Jihad’ case, and extorted by two police constables at Kaliyasot Dam.
The incident occurred on November 28, and both constables have since been suspended.
Accused Constables Allegedly Drinking at Dam With Two Others
According to the complaint, the junior doctor had visited the dam with two female junior doctors. At the spot, constables Matadeen (Tila Jamalpura police station) and Sunil (Habibganj police station) were allegedly drinking with two other men.
The trouble began when they questioned the doctor’s name, leading to an argument.
Doctor Threatened With Fake Love Jihad Case, Then Assaulted
The constables allegedly told the women doctors that the doctor would “trap them in a Love Jihad case,” and soon after, they reportedly assaulted him.
The group then threatened to implicate him in a false case and demanded money.
Extortion of Rs 5,000: Cash and UPI Payment
The complaint states that the accused extorted:
- Rs 2,500 in cash, and
- Rs 2,500 via UPI, transferred to the account of a friend of constable Sunil.
JUDA Files Complaint, Stages Protest
The next day, the Junior Doctors’ Association (JUDA) lodged a complaint at Koh-e-Fiza police station and staged a protest, demanding strict action against the accused personnel.
Police Commissioner Orders Inquiry, Suspends Constables
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra ordered an inquiry led by ACP Anjali Raghuvanshi. Based on the initial findings, both constables were suspended.
Commissioner Mishra told Free Press Journal,
“Prima facie, the conduct of both constables was found suspicious, leading to their suspension. The suspended cops were not posted at Chunabhatti police station, where the incident took place.”
