Vadodara, Gujarat: A BAMS doctor was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) for practicing allopathy without authorization in Nandesari, Vadodara. The raid followed a tip-off about the illegal medical practice.
The accused, identified as Biswas, had been running the clinic for several years without the necessary credentials. Though he held a Bachelor’s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from West Bengal, he was prescribing allopathic medicines and administering allopathic treatments illegally.
Key Findings of the Investigation:
- The doctor lacked registration with the Gujarat Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, making even his Ayurvedic practice unauthorized in the state.
- Allopathic medicines and injections were seized from the clinic.
- Authorities plan to use the seized drugs as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
This case highlights the persistent issue of unregistered and unauthorized medical practices in Gujarat, raising concerns about patient safety and healthcare regulations.
