A fire broke out in the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Odisha, around 3 pm on Tuesday, triggering panic among patients, attendants and hospital staff. The fire reportedly started inside a room in the anaesthesia section attached to the operation theatre on the second floor of the department. Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to upgrade nine civic hospitals to strengthen maternal and specialised healthcare services by adding facilities such as modular operation theatres (OTs), intensive care units (ICUs) and neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The initiative is aimed at improving access to specialised and critical care within civic hospitals and reducing the need to refer patients to private and tertiary-care facilities. New Delhi: Resident doctors at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital have called off their indefinite strike after the hospital administration assured them that a series of security measures would be implemented within 15 days following the alleged assault of doctors and female staff by relatives of a patient. Kottayam: A medical team constituted by Kottayam Medical College Hospital has found no lapse in the treatment of a one-and-a-quarter-year-old child after a needle was allegedly found lodged near her right ribs. The finding comes even as police and other authorities continue to investigate a complaint alleging medical negligence.
