Amethi, January 3: The Uttar Pradesh government is constructing a new 300-bed hospital along with a 50-bed critical care block in Tiloi tehsil of Amethi district, at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. The facility is expected to become fully operational in 2026, providing improved healthcare to residents of the district and nearby areas.

Current Healthcare Services
At present, outpatient and indoor services are being provided at the existing 200-bed hospital attached to the State Autonomous Medical College in Amethi. The new facilities will significantly increase the hospital’s capacity and service quality.

Expanded Capacity
Officials stated that the 300-bed hospital and 50-bed critical care block will be handed over by January 31, 2026. After completion, the hospital’s total capacity will reach 550 beds, enhancing its ability to handle complex medical cases.

Nursing College Construction Underway
Construction of the associated nursing college is expected to be completed within the same timeframe, further strengthening healthcare education and workforce development in the region.

Academic Courses and Training
The State Autonomous Medical College currently offers 100 MBBS seats. Additionally, 11 paramedical diploma courses with a total of 230 seats are available, covering disciplines such as Anesthesia, Emergency and Trauma Care, Lab Technician, Operation Theatre Technician, and X-ray Technician, according to UNI.

New Courses and Upgrades
Preparations are underway to start 60 seats in the BSc Nursing course from the 2026-27 academic session. DNB courses have been approved in some departments, while inspections for other courses have been completed to expand postgraduate medical education.

Continuous Expansion of Services
Principal Dr. Reena Sharma highlighted that healthcare services and academic facilities are being continuously expanded. She emphasised that the initiative will improve both patient care and medical education in Amethi.

Construction Progress
PWD Executive Engineer Umesh Chandra reported that the main building construction is complete, with finishing work ongoing. Construction of hostels and other ancillary facilities is also progressing steadily, ensuring the hospital and college are ready for operation in the coming year.
