Pune: The Army Institute of Cardio Thoracic Sciences (AICTS), Pune, is hosting the Association of Physicians of India (API) – Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) National Pulmonology Conference from 18th to 20th September 2025. The event brings together leading pulmonologists from the Armed Forces and premier academic institutions to discuss advancements in respiratory medicine.


Hands-On Workshops for Trainee Doctors

The conference began on 18th September with seven practical workshops, attended by over 300 residents and nearly 100 faculty members. These sessions provided trainee doctors from various specialties the opportunity to gain direct hands-on experience under the guidance of India’s top pulmonologists.


Inauguration and Keynote Address

The event was inaugurated by Lt Gen P. P. Rao, Director and Commandant of AFMC. The keynote address, delivered by Padma Shri Dr Randeep Guleria, titled “Healthcare in 2030: Preparing for the Respiratory Revolution”, set the stage for discussions on the future of respiratory care and innovation in the field.


Focus on Advanced Respiratory Care

The conference included sessions on recent developments in respiratory medicine, systemic diseases affecting the lungs, and modern approaches to tuberculosis care. Organized by the Department of Respiratory Medicine, AICTS, the event has attracted over 150 faculty members and more than 500 delegates from across the country, serving as a platform for sharing clinical insights and research.


AICTS Leadership Highlights Importance of Collaboration

Maj Gen P. K. Sharma, Commandant of AICTS and Organizing Chairperson, expressed satisfaction at the event’s successful inauguration. He highlighted AICTS’s pioneering role in respiratory care since 1948 and emphasized that conferences like this foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange in the field of pulmonology.
