Claims of Forced Clothing Choice, Abuse, and Control Surface

Ahmedabad: A 21-year-old woman from Juhapura has filed a police complaint against her doctor husband and in-laws, accusing them of harassment, abuse, and controlling behavior, according to a TOI report.

Forced to Wear Nightgown, Restricted Daily Routine

The woman, who married in May 2023 in Saudi Arabia, alleged that after moving to Bapunagar, her husband developed a drinking habit and became verbally abusive. She also claimed her in-laws controlled her clothing choices, forcing her to wear a nightgown at all times while at home.

“My husband insisted that I wear a nightgown all the time, and whenever I resisted, he and my in-laws would abuse me,” she stated in her complaint.

Additionally, she accused her husband of controlling her sleep schedule and even demanding that she massage his legs before being allowed to sleep.

Escalation and Police Investigation

Tensions reportedly escalated after a family trip to Kashmir in May last year, following which she returned to her parents’ home. Despite mediation attempts, her husband allegedly made no effort to reconcile, prompting her to file a complaint at the Vejalpur police station.

Authorities have begun an investigation into the allegations, though no official statement has been released by the accused parties yet.
