Hyderabad: Alert issued on fraudulent health camps and unauthorized lab reports
The Telangana Medical Council (TMC) has issued a public warning about illegal online lab tests and unauthorized health camps being organized by fraudulent operators in the state.
Fraudulent camp uncovered in Warangal
The TMC uncovered a camp operating under the name “Kakatiya Health Care Centre” on CKM College Grounds in Desaipet, Warangal. Dr. V. Naresh Kumar, chairman of the council’s public relations committee, revealed that the camp lacked government approval and was deceiving the public with misleading practices.
Bogus lab reports and false affiliations
An inquiry found that the camp, managed by Mukka Arun Kumar from Jangaon district, was conducting low-cost blood tests without proper permissions or equipment. Investigators discovered that the lab reports bore the name of a well-known pathologist, Dr. Sunkari Naresh Babu, who denied any connection with the camp.
Deceptive claims exposed
The camp administrator falsely claimed an association with Manipal Laboratories, Hyderabad, but later admitted the deception when asked to produce a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Council takes strict action
The TMC has confirmed that notices will be served to individuals whose names were misused, including Dr. Sunkari Naresh Babu and Dr. Pratima.
Public urged to remain cautious
The TMC advises the public to verify the legitimacy of health camps and online lab services before participating, emphasizing the importance of government approval and certified medical practices.
This incident highlights the need for vigilance and strict regulation to protect public health from fraudulent operators exploiting the healthcare system.
