State Anti-Fraud Unit to Investigate Alleged Medical Negligence at Khyati Hospital
Ahmedabad : Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel has called for an immediate inquiry into the recent deaths of two patients at Khyati Hospital in Ahmedabad. Labeling the incident as “very serious,” the minister announced on X that the State Anti-Fraud Unit (SAFU) of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) would investigate the matter. If the inquiry finds evidence of medical negligence, the hospital and the involved doctors could face severe consequences.
Local Concerns and Allegations of Uninformed Medical Procedures
Several residents and family members have voiced concerns about the hospital’s transparency, claiming that medical procedures, including angiograms and stent placements, were performed without proper consent or notification. Nayan Patel, a relative of one of the affected patients, raised questions about the lack of communication regarding these treatments, while Mitesh Patel, another resident, described how Ayushman cards were allegedly misused during a health camp.
PMJAY Deputy Director’s Assurance of a Thorough Review
PMJAY Deputy Director UB Gandhi confirmed that a team would examine hospital records and assess the necessity of the procedures performed. Gandhi emphasized that the investigation would include input from cardiology experts and a full review of the medical actions taken at Khyati Hospital, with the findings soon to be reported to the commissioner.
