Mob attacks neurosurgeon in Lucknow

Lucknow: A neurosurgeon was attacked by the relatives of deceased patient at Ignis Hospital in Gomti Nagar. The neurosurgeon who has been assaulted and is seriously injured is a former professor at King George Medical University (KGMU). The video of the neurosurgeon being beaten by the mob has gone viral on social media while various medical associations including IMA has strongly criticised the attack on neurosurgeon.

The patient who was undergoing treatment for brain haemorrhage in the hospital died during the treatment. When the hospital ask the relatives to pay the bill of the hospital, the relatives created an uproar over the hefty bill and claimed medical negligence by the hospital. Meanwhile one of the relatives slapped the staff which led to the fight. As the commotion escalated, the staff ran away. The patient’s family members entered neurosurgeon cabin and grabbed him by the collar and dragged him from the cabin to the waiting hall. They started beating him with one of the relative throwing chair at the neurosurgeon causing head injury to him. The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera, which has gone viral. A complaint has been registered by the hospital at Gomti Nagar Extension Police Station. The police will soon register a case and take action against the accused who attacked.
