The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step towards strengthening AYUSH healthcare infrastructure in Balrampur with the transfer of identified land in Achalpur to the AYUSH Department for a proposed 50-bed hospital. The project is awaiting financial approval, with construction expected to begin after the required funds are sanctioned.
Project Awaits Financial Approval
Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Sanjay Kumar said that a proposal seeking funds for construction has already been submitted to the state government. Work on the project is expected to commence once the budget is approved and released.
The proposed hospital will be housed in a two-storey building. Along with the 50-bed AYUSH hospital, the facility will accommodate the office of the Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer.
The building is also planned to include an auditorium, guest rooms and other essential facilities.
Existing Facilities Operating from Rented Premises
At present, the Ayurvedic hospital and the office of the Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer at the district headquarters are functioning from rented premises. The existing building is reportedly in poor condition, causing difficulties for patients and staff.
The administrative office has also faced problems during the monsoon. Water reportedly seeps through the walls because of dampness, while waterlogging in the premises further adds to the difficulties. Poor cleanliness has also contributed to mosquito-related problems in the area.
New Facility to Strengthen AYUSH Services
The proposed facility is intended to provide dedicated infrastructure for healthcare services as well as administrative operations. The inclusion of an auditorium and guest rooms is also part of the overall building plan.
The project has been proposed to strengthen Ayurvedic healthcare infrastructure in Balrampur and provide a more suitable setting for AYUSH-related services.
With the land transfer completed and the funding proposal submitted, approval and release of the construction budget are now the key steps before work can begin.
