Senior internal medicine specialist honoured by IMA South Delhi Branch for contributions to patient care, medical education and research

Dr Kartikeya Kohli, Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine and an expert in diabetes, obesity and lifestyle disease management, has been conferred the prestigious Chikitsa Ratan Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to clinical medicine, medical education and academic research.
The award was presented by Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament from the New Delhi constituency, during the Doctors’ Day Award Function held on July 5, 2026, at the Jawaharlal Auditorium, AIIMS New Delhi.
Award Presented During National Doctors’ Day Celebration
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished members of the medical fraternity, including Dr S.C.L. Gupta, Dr G.S. Grewal, Dr M.K. Mudgil (President), Dr Pramod Gautam (Honorary Secretary) and Dr Chetan Gupta (Honorary Treasurer) of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), South Delhi Branch.
The event was organised by the IMA South Delhi Branch in collaboration with Bhasin Pathlabs, Hope Oncology, and RG Stone Hospital as part of the National Doctors’ Day celebrations.
National Doctors’ Day is observed every year on July 1 to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, eminent physician, freedom fighter, former Chief Minister of West Bengal and Bharat Ratna awardee.
Dr Kohli Expresses Gratitude
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the honour, Dr Kartikeya Kohli said,

This recognition reflects not only my personal journey in medicine but also the support and inspiration I have received from my teachers, colleagues, patients, and family. It further motivates me to continue contributing to clinical excellence, medical education, and public health.”
Distinguished Career in Internal Medicine
Dr Kohli currently serves as a Consultant in Internal Medicine at:
- Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research
- Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj
- Apollo Clinic, East of Kailash
During his medical career, he has also been associated with leading healthcare institutions, including Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj.
Strong Academic and Professional Credentials
A graduate of Kasturba Medical College, Dr Kohli holds a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Internal Medicine and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP-UK).
He completed super-specialty training in Nephrology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, obtained ECFMG certification in 2011, and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2017.
His qualifications also include advanced postgraduate training in:
- Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes
- Advanced Diabetes Care and Comorbidities
- Advanced Cardiology and ECG
Significant Contributions to Medical Education
Dr Kohli has played an active role in continuing medical education and professional development. He has independently organised more than 35 Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes and authored over 200 medical articles published in medical journals, bulletins and healthcare platforms.
He has also contributed extensively to public health awareness through television and digital media programmes.
Active Role in Medical Associations
Apart from his clinical practice, Dr Kohli has served as Asset Secretary and Associate Editor of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), South Delhi Branch, besides working as an Executive Member of the Delhi Medical Association.
Through these positions, he has actively contributed to medical education, academic initiatives and professional communication within the healthcare community.
Contributions to Research
An active academician and researcher, Dr Kohli has contributed to several research projects and publications in internal medicine, nephrology, gastroenterology and rheumatology.
Among his notable academic achievements is the presentation of his research titled “One-year Outcome of Sensitized Kidney Transplant: A Single Centre Study” at ISNCON 2017.
The Chikitsa Ratan Award is regarded as one of the notable recognitions in the medical fraternity, honouring healthcare professionals who have demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, research, innovation, medical education and public health.
