Police Raid Clinic in Warasiguda, Probe Extent of Illegal Medical Practice
Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on unauthorized medical practice, Hyderabad police have arrested a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor for allegedly practising allopathy and treating patients without the required qualifications in the city’s Warasiguda area.
According to police sources, the accused was operating a healthcare facility named Sri Sai Ram Clinic, where he allegedly provided allopathic treatment to patients despite holding only a BAMS degree. Authorities acted on a tip-off and conducted a surprise raid at the clinic, leading to his arrest.
Clinic Raided Following Tip-Off
During the inspection, police reportedly discovered that the accused had been presenting himself as a qualified allopathic practitioner and prescribing treatments outside the scope of his recognised qualifications. Officials seized relevant documents and medical materials from the clinic as part of the investigation.
A case has been registered against the accused under various applicable legal provisions. Police are currently investigating the duration of the practice, the number of patients treated, and whether any additional individuals were involved.
Concerns Over Unauthorized Medical Practice
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns regarding unauthorized medical practitioners allegedly operating clinics and misleading patients by posing as qualified doctors. Health authorities and law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned the public to verify the credentials of healthcare providers before seeking treatment.
Similar Incident Reported Earlier in Warasiguda
In a separate but similar case reported earlier from Hyderabad’s Warasiguda locality, police arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a doctor and treating patients without possessing any recognised medical qualifications.
Investigators revealed that the accused, a native of Bhupalpally district, had studied only up to the Intermediate level and lacked any valid medical, clinical, or pharmacy certification. Despite this, he allegedly operated an unauthorised clinic under the name “Madhava Medical Shop” for nearly a year.
Police further stated that the accused was allegedly misusing the drug licence of an acquaintance while providing medical treatment to patients. Following an investigation, authorities arrested him and initiated legal action.
Investigation Continues
The latest arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of Hyderabad police to curb illegal medical practices and protect public health. Officials have urged citizens to seek treatment only from duly qualified and registered medical practitioners.
Further investigation in the Sri Sai Ram Clinic case is underway, and authorities are expected to examine patient records and other evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged violations.
