Police Await Post-Mortem Report; Family Travelling from Assam
In Cuttack, a 28-year-old physiotherapist from Morigaon, Assam, was found dead after reportedly falling from the balcony of his second-floor accommodation at Kavita Complex near Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR).
According to reports, the deceased had moved to Olatpur nearly four years ago after completing his physiotherapy studies in Assam. He had come to pursue an internship at SVNIRTAR and later continued residing in the area.
After completing his internship, he reportedly stayed back in Olatpur and began practising physiotherapy locally. He was living alone in a rented three-storey building at the time of the incident.
Police officials from Olatpur stated that the body was discovered lying on the ground around 7 am. Preliminary findings suggest that he may have fallen from the rear balcony of his second-floor residence.
A neighbour and junior colleague told authorities that the physiotherapist had returned from Assam on Wednesday evening around 8:30 pm. The junior had visited him to collect a book and found him sitting on the rear balcony.
According to statements given to the media, the junior advised him to go to bed, but he reportedly remained seated on the balcony. The junior then returned to his own room, after which the incident is believed to have occurred.
Police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Officials said that an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the fall.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s sister confirmed that the family has booked tickets and is travelling to Odisha. She stated that he had returned to Olatpur only a day earlier and that the family currently has limited information about the events leading to his death.
