Tragic Death in Trilokpur Nursing Home
Bhadohi – A 28-year-old pregnant woman, Vidyavati Devi from Mirzapur, died during a cesarean operation at an unregistered nursing home in Trilokpur, Aurai area, on Wednesday. The procedure was allegedly performed by a quack, Neeraj Gupta, and his wife, who fled the scene after the incident. The newborn survived and is reported to be stable.
Authorities Seal Facility, Launch Probe
Following the death, the Gupta Nursing Home was sealed, and a case is being registered against the operators. District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar deployed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and police to the spot to pacify the agitated family. Investigations revealed the nursing home was functioning without registration or qualified staff.
Patients Shifted Amid Panic
CMO Santosh Kumar Chak reported that six women admitted for childbirth were shifted to the Trauma Centre in Aurai, while over ten others were taken away by their relatives after news of the incident spread. The couple had no valid medical degrees and were operating the facility illegally.
Search for Absconding Accused
Police have launched a search operation for Neeraj Gupta and his wife, who are absconding. Authorities have assured strict action, emphasising that unqualified practitioners running illegal medical facilities pose a grave threat to public health.
