New Delhi – An elderly doctor was violently targeted in a chain-snatching incident in South Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave last week, sparking an extensive investigation. Two accused have been arrested, one of them nabbed after a dramatic 700-kilometre interstate pursuit. The victim reported that two bike-borne men snatched her gold chain before fleeing, police said.

The arrested suspects include a 32-year-old from Pul Prahladpur, involved in over 40 criminal cases, and a 26-year-old from Tilak Nagar with more than 14 prior cases including murder, robbery, and dacoity. Both had been released from jail earlier this year—on February 27 and April 29 respectively.

DCP (Southwest) Amit Goel said police teams reviewed footage from more than 500 CCTV cameras across eight Delhi districts and parts of Noida. The suspects were traced travelling from Safdarjung Enclave to Mukherjee Nagar, committing another snatching, and then moving through Burari, ISBT, Laxmi Nagar, and onto NH-24 via the Meerut Expressway before entering Noida through the Mahamaya Flyover and Kalindi Kunj border.
