Lucknow: In an effort to streamline procedures and ensure seamless medical care for VIP and VVIP patients, the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, has issued a detailed set of protocols governing their movement and treatment within the hospital.
The new directive, outlined in an official circular dated August 1 by Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Vikram Singh, aims to prevent any “unwanted struggle” faced by high-profile individuals, from their arrival and registration to discharge.
Key Highlights of the Guidelines:
- Advance Notification: Resident doctors must inform senior officials in advance if a VIP or VVIP is scheduled to visit or receive treatment, ensuring proper coordination.
- High Alert Protocol: Once alerted, all relevant hospital personnel—including medical staff, security teams, and sanitation inspectors—will be placed on high alert to assist with the visit.
- Infrastructure and Cleanliness: Departments must ensure that pathways, lighting, signage, and cleanliness across OPDs, ICUs, emergency units, and wards are properly maintained for a dignified patient experience.
- Responsibility of Care: The head of the concerned medical department will be directly accountable for overseeing the treatment and experience of the VIP patient.
- Polite Conduct and Communication: Staff have been instructed to maintain courteous behavior, provide clear communication regarding treatment procedures, and ensure a respectful environment throughout the visit.
Dr. Bhuwan Chandra Tiwari, media spokesperson for RMLIMS, stated to Hindustan Times that the guidelines are designed to assist VIPs and VVIPs in obtaining clear and timely information regarding their treatment and hospital processes during their visit.
This move aligns with RMLIMS’s broader efforts to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure and services. As previously reported, the institute is also set to install a 4D CT simulation machine worth ₹14.8 crore, expected to significantly boost cancer treatment capabilities at the hospital.
These measures reinforce RMLIMS’s commitment to maintaining high standards of care and operational efficiency, especially for individuals requiring sensitive and expedited medical services.
