
The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has initiated a crackdown on unregistered medical practitioners, identifying 26 suspicious doctors operating clinics in the city. Among them, an FIR has been lodged against 18 bogus doctors at multiple police stations, prompting an in-depth investigation.
Complaints Lead to Investigation
Following several complaints received by the District Collector, UMC’s health department conducted an inquiry, uncovering a list of 26 questionable doctors. Upon verification of their credentials, authorities discovered fraudulent documentation, leading to immediate action against 18 individuals.
Legal Action and Warnings Issued
UMC Commissioner and Administrator Manisha Awhale directed officials to take stringent action, resulting in FIRs against the accused doctors. Dr. Mohini Dharma, UMC’s health officer, confirmed that while 18 doctors were found to be operating illegally, three were registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council, four clinics were found closed, and one doctor fell under the jurisdiction of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
Public Advisory
UMC has urged residents to avoid consulting unregistered doctors and refrain from purchasing medicines from them. Authorities have also encouraged the public to report any suspicious medical activities to ensure patient safety and curb illegal practices.
