Kolhapur– In a significant development in the suicide abetment case of renowned neurologist Dr. Shirish Valsangkar, 27 employees of the SP Institute of Neurosciences, Solapur have lodged complaints against the hospital’s administrative officer Manisha Mane-Musale, who is currently in police custody.

Mane-Musale was presented before Chief Judge Vijaysinha Bhandari on Wednesday following the end of her initial three-day police custody. While the prosecution sought a further three-day extension, the court granted two more days.

Suicide Note and Allegations

Dr. Valsangkar had died by suicide using his licensed firearm at his residence. A suicide note recovered from the scene directly named Mane-Musale, stating that he took the extreme step following serious allegations made by her, despite having trained her himself.

Inspector Ajit Lakade, the investigating officer, told the court that the accused exercised significant control over hospital operations, and her conduct had prompted multiple staffers to come forward with complaints. “We expect more revelations as the inquiry progresses,” Lakade said.

Arguments in Court

The defence argued that further custody was unnecessary and that the probe could continue without the accused being detained. However, the prosecution countered, citing the need to probe a potential financial angle and the sensitive nature of the case, which could be compromised without custodial interrogation.

The court sided partially with the prosecution, granting a two-day remand extension for further investigation.
