Rajkot : The Rajkot Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested two individuals for running illegal clinics without proper medical qualifications. The accused, identified as 37-year-old Rajesh Maradiya and 29-year-old Raju Chauhan, were operating clinics in Gondal Taluka and Shapar-Veraval police station areas.
Seizure of Medical Equipment
During the raids, medical equipment, drugs, and injections worth ₹32,333 were seized. Items included stethoscopes, syringes, glucose bottles, disposable needles, blood pressure instruments, and various medicines.
- Clinic in Dholra Village: Run by Maradiya, who studied only up to Class 10. He had operated the clinic for five years, using his prior experience as a compounder to pose as a doctor. Equipment worth ₹4,790 was confiscated.
- Clinic in Pipaliya Village: Run by Chauhan, who held a homeopathic degree from Sri Ganganagar Homoeopathic Medical College, Rajasthan. Despite this, he prescribed modern medicines. Items worth ₹27,543 were seized.
Illegal Practices
Both clinics were found to be endangering lives with unauthorized medical treatments. Maradiya, with no medical degree, had gained community trust using his previous experience. Chauhan, although qualified in homeopathy, violated the law by prescribing and administering allopathic medicines.
Police Investigation and Action
The operation was initiated based on a tip-off, exposing the risky practices of the quacks. The accused have been taken into custody, and authorities are continuing investigations to determine the extent of their illegal activities.
Public Health Risk
These arrests highlight the dangers posed by unqualified individuals providing medical treatments. Innocent patients, unaware of the lack of credentials, were at significant risk while seeking healthcare at these clinics.
Authorities Urge Vigilance
Law enforcement and health officials have urged the public to verify the credentials of medical practitioners before seeking treatment, emphasizing the importance of consulting licensed professionals.
