A tragic incident in Hubli has sparked serious allegations of medical negligence after a 25-year-old man reportedly died following a delay in receiving treatment at a government hospital.

Accident Leaves Youth Critically Injured

The deceased, identified as Prakash, a resident of Morab village, worked as a JCB operator. On March 13, he was returning home on his motorcycle when he was allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle, leaving him critically injured.

Shifted from Dharwad Hospital to KIMS

Immediately after the accident, he was rushed to Dharwad District Hospital, where he received first aid. Considering the seriousness of his condition, doctors advised that he be shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubli for advanced treatment.

Family Alleges Delay in Admission

According to the family, when Prakash was brought to KIMS during the night, hospital staff did not admit him immediately, reportedly citing a shortage of beds. Relatives claimed that they had to wait in the ambulance for over 30 minutes without receiving any medical attention.

Taken to Private Hospital, Declared Brain Dead

Frustrated by the delay, the family shifted him to a private hospital in Dharwad, where doctors reportedly declared him brain dead. Following this, he was brought back to KIMS for further care.

Patient Succumbs, Negligence Alleged

Despite efforts, doctors at KIMS were unable to save him. The grieving family has alleged that the delay in providing timely treatment and shifting the patient between hospitals ultimately cost him his life.

Questions Raised Over Emergency Response

The incident has raised serious concerns about emergency response systems and patient handling in critical cases, especially in government hospitals. The family has demanded accountability, alleging that immediate medical intervention could have saved the young man’s life.
