Community Awareness Initiative Highlights Benefits of Yoga, Ayurveda and Preventive Healthcare
Ahead of International Yoga Day, a Yoga Week programme was organised at Shri Sita Samahit Sthal to spread awareness about yoga, Ayurveda and healthy living among the public. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Ayurveda practitioners, yoga trainers, local residents, youth, women, elderly citizens and community representatives.
The programme aimed to educate people about the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and adopting healthier lifestyle habits. Participants were informed about how regular yoga practice contributes to physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and overall health. Demonstrations of basic yogasanas, pranayama and meditation techniques were conducted, focusing on simple exercises that can be easily practised at home.
Organisers stated that the initiative was not merely a symbolic celebration ahead of International Yoga Day but a meaningful effort to encourage communities to understand the long-term health benefits of yoga and traditional wellness systems. They highlighted that increasing stress levels, sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy habits have become major concerns in modern society, and yoga offers an effective solution for maintaining balance and positivity.
The programme’s key attraction was the presence of Pandit Sanjay Yogi Shastri Maharaj, who led various yoga sessions and addressed participants on the significance of yoga in Indian culture. He described yoga as India’s invaluable gift to the world and emphasised its continued relevance in promoting physical and mental wellness. He encouraged participants to practise yoga regularly, stating that even a few minutes of daily yoga, pranayama and meditation can bring positive changes in health, lifestyle and thought processes.
Several Ayurveda practitioners, including Dr Shyam Sundar Pandey, Dr Ankur Singh, Dr Ravindra Kumar Pandey, Dr Rakesh Chandra Maurya and Dr Nandlal, attended the programme and interacted with participants. The experts discussed the strong connection between yoga, Ayurveda and preventive healthcare. They advised people to maintain balanced dietary habits, engage in regular physical activity, ensure adequate sleep and focus on mental relaxation as essential components of a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga trainers Kapil and Ranjeeta conducted practical sessions and demonstrated beginner-friendly yoga postures and breathing exercises suitable for participants of all age groups. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring safe yoga practices for beginners and elderly individuals according to their physical capabilities.
Village head Bankat, Kailash Tiwari and several respected community members also participated in the event. They praised the initiative and noted that such grassroots programmes play a crucial role in spreading health awareness among local communities. They urged residents to continue practising yoga beyond International Yoga Day and inspire family members and neighbours to adopt healthier lifestyles.
The event concluded with a collective yoga session and a renewed commitment from participants to promote yoga, Ayurveda and wellness practices within their communities. Organisers said that the Yoga Week programme successfully conveyed the message that regular yoga practice can enhance overall well-being and help individuals lead healthier, more balanced and disciplined lives.
