New 1,010-bed emergency hospital and modern OPD block to strengthen healthcare infrastructure

The Uttar Pradesh Government has approved the construction of a 1,010-bed multi-speciality emergency hospital and a new OPD block at the new campus of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow.

According to an official statement, the state government has sanctioned Rs 855.04 crore for the ambitious healthcare infrastructure project aimed at improving advanced medical services in the state capital.

State-of-the-art emergency centre to be developed

State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the project will include a modern Multi-Speciality Emergency Centre Hospital equipped with advanced medical facilities and 1,010 beds.

The government will also construct a new OPD block considering the rising number of patients and the increasing demand for better treatment facilities at the institute.

New teaching block for medical students

As part of the expansion plan, a technologically advanced teaching block with a seating capacity of 200 students will also be developed. The facility is expected to provide a modern academic and training environment for medical students.

Officials stated that the new infrastructure will help critically ill patients receive faster and specialised treatment while improving healthcare accessibility for patients visiting Lucknow from different districts of the state.

Healthcare accessibility remains government focus

The development comes amid the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and making quality treatment more accessible and affordable for the public.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the importance of affordable and trustworthy healthcare services while speaking at the inauguration of KDSG Super Speciality Hospital in Greater Noida.

The hospital was founded by former India cricket captain Kapil Dev and entrepreneur Sunil Kumar Gupta.

During the event, the chief minister stated that a doctor’s behaviour and trust built with patients often help cure “half the illness” even before medicines begin to work.
